The Greater Mekong Subregion GMS Public Health Academic Network

The Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Public Health Academic Network has started in 2008. It comprises members from public health academic institutions of 6 countries in the GMS namely Thailand, Vietnam, China, Cambodia, Lao PDR and Myanmar.

The Network is committed to enhance the quality and relevance of educational and training programs in public health in the GMS. The Network itself is responsible for strengthening the collaboration and partnership of the public health institutions in the GMS, and fostering collaborative actions among existing networks, policymakers and researchers with interest in health policy and health research.

The Network also serves as a platform for health personnel, academicians, researchers, especially graduate students and young academic staff from the GMS region to share and exchange scientific as well as professional experience on public health from their countries.

  • The Vision of GMS : The network has been established to achieve the highest possible level of health among the people and to promote equity of health in the Greater Mekong Subregion.
  • The Mission of GMS Network : To enhance regional capacity to address major public health challenges through the delivery of education, research, and policy advocacy for the improvement of population health and for health equity in the region.

This conference is one of the key activities of the Greater Mekong Public Health Academic Network.


The 13th international conference on Public Health among Greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries on "Enhancing transdisciplinary collaborations on Education and Research to tackle priority public health issues in the new Era" has following objectives:

  • To strengthen the relationship of Faculties of Public Health among the Southeast Asian countries and in the world;
  • To share research results in the field of Public Health as well as priority public health issues among greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries;
  • To search for feasible solutions to enhance international collaboration among Public Health Faculties in Mekong Sub-Region and a wider area of the Southeast Asian countries about training and research in Public Health.

  • Environmental and Occupational Health - One Health - EcoHealth;
  • Nutrition and Food Safety;
  • Epidemiology of Communicable and Non-communicable Diseases;
  • Reproductive and Sexual Health;
  • Health Literacy and Health Promotion;
  • Health Service and Healthcare Management;
  • Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment.

Conference design and execution

Faculty of Public Health of the Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy and Hanoi University of Public Health will host the conference; while the Dean meeting will be held in Hanoi University of Public Health (Hanoi, Vietnam), the main Conference will occur at Faculty of Public Health of the Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Hue City, Vietnam). A steering committee Board and secretary group has been established to implement conference activities such as receiving registration form, article submission, preparing logistics issues, designing conference agendas, sessions, contents for working group discussion. The Editor Board of the Conference will be responsible for selecting which presentation should be reported at the conference. The secretary group of the Editor Board will receive presentations and format them according to the regulation.

Abstract submission: sending the abstract file to email:

Abstracts of scientific research, and overview reports on the conference themes are welcome. The abstracts approved at the Conference Scientist Committee will be published in the conference proceedings and presented at the Conference in the form of in-person or online reports or posters.
